KLINKERS 2006 - A CULTURAL SUMMER HAPPENING IN BRUGES
Klinkers 2006, 28 July till the 12 August.
 Klinkers
has its reputation in Bruges that sounds like bells on the belfry.
It stands for a music festival, which is offered each summer outdoors,
for free, on the burg, astridpark and this year also in the court-yard
of the great seminary in the potterierei.
A cosmopolitan summer happening that gives his attention to quality,
atmosphere and enjoyment for a big audience. The most divergent
genres like Jamaican ska concerning rootsy soul from the states
and jazzy street funk from Canada to Mexican dramatic songs and
Napolitan tarantella.
This year they invited again the Serbian "Boban I Marko Markovitch
Orkestra" to challenge all arms and legs at the burg to a rhythmic
waving ecstasy. The large occupation of Balkan Blowers was strengthened
with special guests like Frank London and Roy Pacci, acquaintances
of previous year.
We had four special concerts with limited public capacity Under
the title "klinkers Intimate" which weren't free of charge.
This year we had "Rafael Campallo Y Su Grupo Flamenco"
with his Flamenco dance. Next to this, klinkers offered 3 other
great vocals like Susana Bac (Afro-Peruan), Lila Downs (Mexican)
and Raquel Tavares (Portuguese)

Leg Work is organized only once a year with a growing success.
The Bruges public, which clearly suffers from an inborn reserved
closeness, had the opportunity to express themselves in many different
dances socializing with its neighbors. This is a very special therapeutic
initiative, which should happen more often during the year so that
those high walls around the little Bruges premises would shrink.
Very classy was the Argentinean Tango in the Provincial court,
Salsa in the Astridpark, Muzette on the market square, Fullmoon
and silent stage on the court-yard of the hallen and tree ball in
the upper hall, swordfish on the fish market and the modern stage
on the theatre square.
More of this is definitely wanted!!
