SNOW AND ICE SCULPTURE FESTIVAL
ICE AGE

24 November 2006 - 14 January 2007 On Wednesday
29 November the Snow and Ice Sculpture Festival opened its doors
again in front of the train station for all sponsors and co-workers.
Traditionally the start of this discovery journey was given with
several speeches, such as from our mayor, Moenaert, as well as from
Alexander De Man, who organized this event and thanked everybody
who worked on this project.
After the speeches there was this chilly experience for everybody
to jump from an almost tropical autumn climate into the ice age
of 4 degrees Celsius. Some of the visitors obviously weren't dressed
for this weather and the stills and film pictures were definitely
not so stable as usual. Anyway, we only can congratulate the 40
sculptors from all over the world carrying 300 tons of ice and 400
tons of snow into a glittering happening that leaves young and old
astonished.
